Why does the crush lasting more than four months thing beget "rage"? I don't know much about psychology, but this seems interesting, to me at least! :)

Because it probably puts a lot of kinks in the way people think about their relationships, would be my guess :P

Okay, officially out of submissions, people.

I’m gonna try to cook some up but I’m quite busy job hunting right now, so, I’m gonna need your help too.

I'd have to agree with the response that they're really just two facets of Antisocial Personality Disorder. As someone said before, 'psychopath' and 'sociopath' aren't really clinical terms anymore, more like descriptive of patterns of behavior. However, 'psychopath' and 'sociopath' are not interchangeable. You'll know psychopathic behavior when you see it, but you're unlikely to identify sociopathic behavior right away; sociopaths are usually master manipulators, while psychopaths take a more direct approach to causing damage. At least this is how it's been described to me, coming from a criminal psychology perspective. Hope this helps! :)

The terms 'psychopath' and 'sociopath' never show up in the DSM-IV. It is referred to as Antisocial Personality Disorder.

I'd love to get my Abnormal Psychology book on the bookshelf, but it requires moving, so I googled instead :P I think this particular entry below is a good introduction on psychopathy/sociopathy debates: http://blogs.psychcentral.com/forensic-focus/2010/07/sociopathy-vs-psychopathy/ Hope it helps.

I've always believed psychopaths don't know the damage they can be causing, don't know how it impacts the victims/people around them etc. Whereas sociopaths know the difference, but go ahead and do (whatever it is that's damaging) anyway. Not sure if this is 100% correct, but my psych teacher mentioned it a while ago, it's been stuck in my brain ever since!

what is the difference between a psychopath and a sociopath? inquiring minds would like to know

People can correct me on this, but I’m fairly certain that psychopath and sociopath do mean the same thing, in essence, but that psychopath is no longer used in a clinical sense.

re anarchialtribulations: here's a simulation of a schizophrenic episode that my psych teacher showed us a few weeks ago- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEXyqe85cuA

Re: Schizophrenia video Define video? Like, an example of? Because in theory you could just use a clip of a movie like A Beautiful Mind.

In response to anarchialtribulations: My abnormal psych teacher showed us part of the True Life episode on schizophrenia in class. It's available online at http://www.mtv.com/videos/true-life-i-have-schizophrenia/1586145/playlist.jhtml. Hope that helps some. Good luck!

Tomorrow I have to do a presentation on Schizophrenia, and I need a video for it. Any ideas for a video I should show?

I’m not sure, but perhaps at least one of our 2531 following friends can help you.

So, what do you guys think?
